Born of Indian & Austrian parentage in London.

As an actor his career has covered various theatre styles including Shakespeare (Romeo), contemporary drama, children's theatre, musicals, pantomimes, sketch based comedy, operas, cabarets, devised theatre and art installations. He has toured nationally (the length & breath of the UK) and internationally. His film credits include 'The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover.'

He has worked with some of the world's most celebrated directors including Peter Greenaway, Jonathan Kent, Phyllida LLoyd, Peter Sellars and David McVicar.

In the production of Sweetest Gift, What’s On said “Ishwar Maharaj catches the nervousness of Jeremy, in contrast to the apparent placidity of Daniel Mckenna’s Colin.”

The List said that as Ferdinand and Miranda in Storm In a Teacup “Ishwar Maharaj and Ruth Harris manage to rescue the magic.”

The Times said that the Players Panto (Ishwar was Player Villain) was “the only notable scene” in Hamlet at the Royal Opera House.

In a role that was created specially for him in the opera Cosi Fan Tutte, The Irish Times said, “The hunky actor Ishwar Maharaj shimmies in and out of the action looking good enough to eat.”

Of his Chorus in Antigone Time Out said that “Ishwar Maharaj strikes the right casual and slightly sinister note as the narrator and observer.”

He has his own theatre company called theatreunO which he created with Victoria Di Pace. Their first production will be the play nO-bOdy nOse written by Ishwar. A run of the production is planned for April 2006 at THE SPACE in London's Docklands.

As a writer he co-wrote two of the prodctions at drama school and a one man show based on Salvador Dali. Also at drama school a radio play of his was chosed to be produced.

With The Big Picture Company he co-wrote & co-directed the highly successful sketch based comedy show 'All Things Asian and Not,' which was described in the press as "a hot, new act providing musical and thought-provoking banter on role reversal, drugs and mixed marriages.."

He has also written 3 volumes of poetry and is a published poet. He is currently working on his fourth full lenght play.
